Renowned Hong Kong doctor accused of making sexual jokes to nurses has been cleared of wrongdoing

A renowned Hong Kong gynecologist accused of making sexually suggestive comments and jokes to nurses at his clinic has been cleared of wrongdoing by the professional regulator.

The Medical Council’s verdict on Sunday about the gynecologist Dr. Stephen Suen Sik-hung completed the six-day hearings since March.

However, the investigative panel found that it was “inappropriate” for employees at a medical clinic to tell inappropriate jokes in the workplace.

Suen, a well-known obstetrician and gynecologist, cheered elatedly: “Justice will prevail” as the verdict was announced.

The complaints against Suen first surfaced in 2022 when several nurses at his clinic in Tsim Sha Tsui accused him of making comments of a sexual nature.
