Moreau man is charged with sexual assault and child endangerment

A Moreau man was arrested after Saratoga County sheriff’s deputies received a call about sexual assault and child endangerment.

According to a news release, that call came in around 4:01 p.m. Friday and dispatched deputies to Lamplighter Acres.

34-year-old Alim Mohammed is accused of having forced sexual contact with another person. Authorities said he also knowingly acted in a manner that could harm the physical, mental or moral well-being of a child under 17. In addition, Mohammed provided the victim with alcohol and cannabis, according to a press release.

He was arraigned in Moreau Municipal Court and charged with first-degree rape, endangering the welfare of a child, first-degree unlawful contact with a child and third-degree criminal sale of cannabis. Authorities said he was remanded to the Saratoga County Jail pending further legal action.
