Matt Hardy slams WBD over Briscoe’s TV ban before Jay’s tragic death

Jay Briscoe will forever be remembered as an icon of tag team wrestling, admired for his exceptional skills in the ring and his commitment to delivering unforgettable performances for fans. His death sent shockwaves through the wrestling world and now Matt Hardy has criticized Warner Bros. Discovery for not even appearing on television before Jay Briscoe’s death.

The ROH Hall of Famer was tragically involved in a fatal car accident on January 17, 2023. Delaware State Police confirmed that another driver crossed the center line and collided head-on with his vehicle.

WarnerBros Discovery didn’t even allow Mark Briscoe on AEW television, even after his brother Jay Briscoe passed away. Then WarnerMedia finally changed its mind, and Tony Khan had a lot to do with it as part of the Jay Briscoe tribute show.

While speaking on the Keepin’ It 100 podcast, Matt Hardy expressed his frustration that Warner Bros. Discovery did not allow the Briscoes to appear on AEW television prior to the death of Jay Briscoe. He noted that many fans deeply mourned and felt connected to Jay’s death, especially after hearing about his efforts to make amends for past controversies.

Hardy stated that both Jay and Mark Briscoe were good people who worked hard to right their wrongs, and he found it strange that they were only allowed on television after Jay Broscoe’s death, which ultimately led to Mark Briscoe’s appearance.

“Jay Briscoe, many people mourned him deeply. I feel like people felt like they knew him better, you know? He was a guy with all these kids, and especially when he heard the story, he really wished he had apologized. He took all these steps to try to make things right after they were canceled for a while, the Briscoes. They were both good guys and tried to right their wrongs. It’s really so strange that they weren’t even on TV – they couldn’t be on AEW TV until Jay Briscoe was gone. And that led to Mark Briscoe, and I don’t know why they couldn’t have her on TV before. That just wasn’t right at all.

Jay Briscoe had a great passion for wrestling and was well respected by his family, friends and fans alike. More than a year after his death, the void he left behind is still deeply felt, and it is unlikely that feeling will subside any time soon.
