1-year-old killed, another child ejected in accident on Berlin Turnpike

BERLIN, CT (WFSB) – A one-year-old child was killed in a car accident on the Berlin Turnpike Saturday afternoon.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene of an accident that occurred at the intersection of Route 5 and North Colony Road and involved three vehicles.

Several people sustained injuries and were treated at nearby medical facilities.

The one-year-old victim was taken to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Another child was thrown from the same car and is currently in serious condition.

One adult victim suffered head trauma as a result of the accident.

According to police, the other victims are expected to survive.

The Midstate Accident Reconstruction Squad is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
