1 dead in West Oakland shooting, investigation ongoing

OAKLAND — One person died in the hospital Saturday evening after being shot in West Oakland, police said.

Officers responded to the 1600 block of Adeline Street near DeFremery Park around 7:30 p.m. to investigate a ShotSpotter activation.

Here they allegedly found a person with at least one gunshot wound. The person was taken to the hospital, where he later died, police said.

The homicide squad responded and took over the investigation into the shooting.

The victim has not been identified. Anyone with information is asked to contact Oakland police.
