Visitors give hosts Hull a late scare

HULL took a 40-7 lead at half-time, but a dramatic comeback from Billingham ensured the final score was closer than most expected.

The hosts started well: Finlay Hobson intercepted Billingham’s initial attack and sprinted 70 yards for a try converted by Reece Dean after five minutes.

Three minutes later Dean scored a penalty before Hull immediately extended their lead with a try from Harry Dawkins.

And ten minutes later Peter Hudson-Kowaleicz added try number three.

After Dean landed two more penalties, Hull scored their bonus point try through Evi Uriburu-Grey, which was converted by Dean.

As the half came to an end, Billingham’s Elliott Husband scored a try converted by Peter

Evans, but Hull still had time to add another through Alex Heard, converted by Dean.

The second period couldn’t have been more different.

Joe Scarborough crossed after 64 minutes, converted by Joe Ross, and four minutes later Louie Croark was also there to convert.

Then, with three minutes left, Jamie Lane crossed as Hull claimed their first win of the season.
