Trump promises to file criminal charges against Google

However, Google has stated that it does not manipulate search results to benefit any particular party.

Washington DC: Donald Trump threatened on Friday to order the Justice Department to file criminal charges against Google if he is elected president. He claimed the company unfairly published negative news articles about him but not about his opponent in the 2024 election, Kamala Harris.

The complaint — the Trump campaign’s latest threat to wield the power of the presidency in response to real or perceived enemies — came in an abrupt post on Truth Social.

“Google was found to have illegally used a system of revealing and displaying only bad stories about Donald J. Trump, some of which were fabricated for that purpose, while at the same time revealing only good stories about Comrade Kamala Harris,” Trump said of the post.

“This is an ILLEGAL ACTIVITY, and hopefully the Department of Justice will prosecute you for this blatant election interference.” If not, I will seek their prosecution, subject to the laws of our country, once I win the election and become President of the United States. “
Trump did not address the possibility that there were more negative stories about his campaign than Harris’s in recent weeks, and what prompted him to take action against Google was not immediately clear.

Google has stated that it does not manipulate search results to benefit any particular party. “Both campaign websites consistently appear at the top of searches for relevant and frequent searches,” the company said in a statement.
Still, conservatives have long complained that Google’s search results unfairly favor Democrats.
