Texoma Medical Center hosts the first annual car show to benefit Grayson County United Way

DENISON, Texas (KXII) – The sun was shining and the hoods were up at the first annual Cruisin’ Texoma car show at Texoma Medical Center (TMC) on Saturday.

The show started as a staff event but grew into something much larger.

“Our CEO actually has a 1969 Camaro, that was the inspiration, he loves cars, I love cars,” said HR specialist Kyndal Hoffman. “It’s kind of become a whole thing of, like, let’s do this for the community, let’s get the community involved in TMC and what we’re going to do out here.”

The event benefits Grayson County United Way and Saturday’s entry fee was a little different than usual.

Instead of cash, there were cans of food – one per bike.

“So motorcycles brought two, cars and trucks brought four, but we actually saw boxes come in,” Hoffman said. “United Way has already done it and taken our canned goods for the day to the food bank and distributed them.”

Local car enthusiast Cynthia says events like this are great for the community.

So great, in fact, that she hopes to start a local low rider club to take the energy of the car shows on the road.

“It’s about cruising together, it’s about bringing all the clubs together so we can be united,” she said.

And if you missed this year’s show, don’t worry.

“When we designed the T-shirt, we said, ‘Put the year on this,’ because we’re going to do this every year,” Hoffman said. “This is something we want to continue to expand.”
